OAKLAND RAIDERS INFORMATION
The Oakland
Raiders have their home arena at Network Associates Coliseum.
The Raiders are
holding talks with quarterback Kelly Collins to include him in the
team. Collins had met the Raiders officials for two days at
team headquarters earlier and has been keeping up with the team
in recent days.
The Oakland
Raiders signed former New England defensive end Bobby Hamilton as
a free agent to boost the League defense.
Hamilton had
helped the Patriots in winning two Super Bowls during his nine-year career.
Hamilton had earlier played for New York Jets.
Oakland Raiders would be missing B. Christenson and C. Husley
as they are out of action for sustaining injuries.
Raiders have so
far won 4 and lost 12 games in the last season they played.
They are
scheduled to play next at San Francisco on August 14.
Network Associates Coliseum has been
the home of the Raiders for more then two decades. In 1940's the Oakland
officials planned to construct a stadium for baseball and football teams. The
land for the stadium was chosen near the Nimitz Freeway and the
construction started in 1962. Before moving to Coliseum stadium, the Raiders
played at Frank Youell Field. The Oakland Raiders played their first game at the
Oakland Coliseum on September 18, 1966. The stadium has a seating capacity of
63,146 and the field has a grass surface. Coliseum has 125 luxury suits and was
constructed at a cost of $200 million.
