BUFFALO BILLS
INFORMATION
The
Buffalo Bills is a National Football League team based in Buffalo,
New York. It is among the five teams in the Eastern Division of the
American Football Conference (AFC).
Founded
in 1960, the Buffalo Bills have their home arena at Ralph Wilson
Stadium. Initially the team was a member of the American Football
League, but later joined the NFL, in 1970.
The team
won AFL titles consecutively in 1964 and 1965. During the 1970’s,
Buffalo Bills' running back O. J. Simpson became one of the most
productive rushers in professional football history, breaking almost
every NFL rushing record.
The
Buffalo Bills did not play successfully in the 1968 season;
subsequently the Bills used their number-one pick in the 1969 AFL
draft to select O. J. Simpson. In 1972 Simpson won the first of his
four AFC rushing titles and the following season, Simpson ran for
2,003 yards, breaking the NFL record held by Jim Brown of the
Cleveland Browns. hatsan bt 65
During
the 1988 season, the Bills reached the AFC Championship Game for the
first time since their joining the NFL. Buffalo Bills won five
Eastern Division titles between 1988 and 1993.
Before the 2000 season, the team released its famous players Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, and Thurman Thomas. The Bills included Lawyer Milloy
in their team before the start of 2003 season, to strengthen their
defense. They defeated New England 31-0 in the first game but did
not perform well later, finishing 6-10 for the 2003 season.
Formerly, the Buffalo Bills played at War Memorial stadium (1960-1972) before
settling down to their present Home Arena Ralph Wilson Stadium. Ralph Wilson Stadium is located in the
town of Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. The stadium was inaugurated in 1973, signing a 25-year deal with poultry packing firm of Louis Rich to be named Rich Stadium. The stadium has a seating capacity of 73,967 and has a Astro
turf surface to play. The Buffalo Bills have won two League Championships in 1964 and 1965; four AFC championships in 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994.
